Mesa carpets cleaned, jewelry cleaned out

The Mesa Police Department is asking residents if they have jewelry missing after having your carpets cleaned?

Justin Bauman and Keith Baldwin were arrested and are currently in custody for theft and trafficking stolen property. They were stealing jewelry from customer’s homes to sell as scrap, while employed by a carpet cleaning service. Bauman and Baldwin received over $30,000 for jewelry sold between July and December 2012. They have admitted to stealing from customers in Fountain Hills, Scottsdale and Phoenix.

To date, six customers have been identified as victims who discovered jewelry missing after having their carpets cleaned by the suspects. The owner of the business was unaware of the thefts and has been cooperating with the investigation.
