One person is dead after a head on collision in Rimrock.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, just before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to the area near the intersection of East Beaver Creek Road and Stevenson Road in Rimrock for the report of a head on collision involving a Toyota Rav 4 and a Volkswagen Passat.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found two bystanders attempting to render aid to the 74-year-old victim by holding her in place until medical care arrived. Copper Canyon Fire/EMS arrived shortly after and pulled the victim out of the Passat to continued lifesaving efforts but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Deputies interviewed a witness who stated she was following the Toyota Rav 4 northeast on Beaver Creek Road, when she saw a white Volkswagen heading in the opposite direction driving in their lane, striking the Toyota. The witness immediately parked her vehicle and ran to the Toyota to provide aid to the driver until medics arrived.

The driver of the Volkswagen was evaluated medically on scene and refused further assistance.
