Patterson Place: Escobar now denies Patterson’s domestic violence

State Representative Daniel Patterson’s ex-girlfriend Georgette Escobar, has recanted her claims of Patterson’s abuse. She has posted a reversal about her previous domestic abuse accusations on her Facebook page yesterday. She had been scheduled to appear before a court in La Paz County today on a drug charge.

In the Facebook post, Escobar wrote that she suffered a “breakdown” and that Patterson “never hit or committed domestic violence” against her. The ethics probe will continue according to Representative Katie Hobbs. Ethics Committee member Vogt said the Facebook post will be considered by the special investigators hired to handle the ethics case, but agreed with Hobbs that the investigation will continue as planned.

The House Ethics Committee is scheduled to meet again Wednesday, “at which time Patterson will have an opportunity to file an amended response and the special investigators will produce their initial findings,” according to the Yellow Sheet.

Statement of Georgette Escobar about Daniel Patterson

I had a breakdown recently. I’m now stabilized and working on getting better.

Daniel Patterson never hit or committed domestic violence against me. I never needed an order of protection against him. I’m sorry.

I disagree with the ethics complaint, investigation and charges against him. He should be found innocent.

The Pima County Attorney’s Office is not dropping charges against Patterson. It is common for victims of domestic violence to recant true claims against their abusers.
