Arivaca couple arrested for selling marijuana

After a two month investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Arivaca residents, Robert and Irene Williams, have been arrested on charges for Possession of Marijuana for Sale.

On June 26, 2012, deputies notified Border Patrol agents of intelligence indicating that the two suspects would be transporting a load of marijuana. When the suspect’s vehicle came upon a Border Patrol checkpoint on Arivaca Road, a canine alerted to the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, agents found 9 bundles weighing approximately 10 pounds. They turned the investigation back over to the Sheriff’s Directed Patrol Unit.

Deputies subsequently obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ residence, where they found an additional 40 pounds of marijuana, several weapons, vacuum sealers, scales and a small marijuana growth of 12 plants.
