The Rio Nuevo District Board announced that it has hired William A. Allen, MBA, CPA, as the organization’s chief financial officer. Mr. Allen has over 30 years of experience as a chief financial officer, and director of accounting policys, with companies such as Asarco, Estes Homes and DR Horton. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as an MBA from ASU. He is a past president of the Tucson chapter of the National Management of Accountants and is widely recognized as one of the most senior accountants in Southern Arizona. He has held similar positions with very large and complex organizations, and currently teaches part-time at the of University of Arizona.
His starting salary, proposed by Mr. Allen, will be $85,000 a year- dramatically less than the $150,000 the Rio nuevo District Board had budgeted.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Bill’s credentials and background accept our position,” said Chairman Fletcher McCusker. “We face a number of challenges financially, including two years of qualified audits and now total financial independence from the City of Tucson. His experience with bringing up systems and procedures will prove to be very valuable to the District.”
Mr. Allen will start immediately.
