El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson is offering $25 Mammogram Screenings for uninsured women in honor of breast cancer awareness month. They are reaching out to women in the community who do not have health insurance and need a mammogram.
The organization says that the public would be surprised to know many of Tucson’s small business owners, independent contractors, real estate/insurance agents and many of the service workers don’t have health insurance because they just can’t afford the premiums anymore.
El Rio has a new digital mammogram machine to offer the best possible technology.
The Center is eager to book appointments for this Friday, October 5. Women interested need to call 520-309-3990 to schedule an appointment.
Appointments are available at 839 West Congress from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays October 5, October 12, October 19, and October 26.
The community has provided El Rio with over $14 million dollars in charity care in 2011 and will provide up to $17 million this year. The Center says that they are “seeing many new faces in their clinics due to the bad economy, most of which are the working poor holding down any job they can find sometimes outside of their occupation just to keep afloat.”
