Tucson area security guard arrested for child pornography

In December 2011, the Tucson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began an investigation into
the online sharing of child sexual abuse images via peer-to-peer Internet networks. During the investigation, detectives located a computer in the Tucson area that had been sharing multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of minors.

Detectives were able to trace the location of that computer to an address in the 2900 block of West Pincushion Lane. On October 3, 2012, a search warrant was obtained and served at the residence. During the service of the search warrant, detectives located various computer related items, which contained thousands of files depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.

The resident, 47-year old Mitchell Beiro, was booked into the Pima County Jail for 15 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. During the investigation, detectives revealed that Mr. Beiro was involved in an unreported child molestation case in California. Mr. Beiro is currently employed as security guard for a local security company in Tucson. The Tucson Police Department is concerned that there may be other unreported cases in both Tucson and Southern California. Anyone that may have information regarding unreported cases of sexual misconduct involving Mr. Beiro is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
