New Mexico pipe bomb makers sought

PHOENIX — The ATF is posting an award of up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the construction and delivery of six destructive devices recovered in the Roswell and Clovis, New Mexico areas.

During the time period between February 13, 2013 and May 14, 2013, law enforcement authorities in southeastern New Mexico investigated incidents involving the recovery of at least six destructive devices commonly referred to as pipe-bombs.

The devices are similar in construction and with the exception of one, have been pipe bomb type devices. The one unique device recovered in Roswell, NM was a homemade hand grenade type device. These devices were recovered in outdoor areas in an intact unexploded state. ATF Special Agents are investigating these incidents with New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Bomb Squad Personnel, the Clovis Police Department and the Roswell Police Department.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in solving these crimes and are hopeful that the reward will provide additional leads in this investigation.
