The Wildcats picked up their first Pac-12 win tonight against Utah fresh off of an upset win over the Stanford Cardinals last week. Unfortunately for Utah, they were in Ka’Deem’s house.
Arizona trailed 21-20 early in the fourth quarter until quarterback B.J. Denker found freshman receiver Nate Phillips for a seven-yard touchdown to give the Wildcats the lead. B.J.Denker then ran the ball in for a two-point conversion and the UA never trailed again. Closing strong, Carey iced the Arizona win with a strong 44-yard touchdown run with only 2:19 to play, the 40 carries breaking the previous school record for rushing attempts of 36 carries in a game.
Improving every week, B. J. Denker finished with 168 yards passing and one touchdown, completing 18 of his 30 passes. He added 51 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Wildcats and gave them their first Pac-12 win of the season. The UA now sits at 3-3 and 1-2 in league play.
Utah stunned, fell to 4-3 with the loss and 1-3 in the Pac-12. The Utah lost their starting quarterback Travis Wilson to a hand injury in the first half.
