The Tucson Police Department’s Burglary Unit made two arrests in a string of burglaries that occurred in the Rita Ranch area in the month of October. Detectives arrested 39-year old Jose Pina and 35-year old Juan Ortega for their involvement in the following burglaries:
In each incident, the suspects forced entry during daytime hours while no one was home. During their investigation, detectives determined that Pina pawned property from two of the burglaries. On October 23rd, detectives served a search warrant at Pina’s home in the 10100 block of East Desert Gorge Drive. Detectives located additional property from the burglaries. Pina was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for 2 counts of 2nd Degree Burglary, 2 counts of Trafficking in Stolen Property and 2 counts of Felony Theft.
Further investigation led detectives to an apartment in the 6200 block of East Pima Street. On October 24th, a search warrant was served at the residence and more property belonging to the victims was recovered. The resident, Juan Ortega was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for 2 counts of 2nd Degree Burglary and 2 counts of Felony Theft.
