CBP make biggest bust in Arizona history

biggest-bust-in-arizonaAt an inspection warehouse at the Mariposa Port of Entry, Customs and Border Protection on Tuesday showed off the biggest marijuana bust ever seen in Arizona: 20,000 pounds of marijuana found packed in a semi-trailer November 13th.

According to authorities, a trucker was transporting the drugs under a load of Mexican squash. A Customs inspector was suspicious of the haul, and the truck was sent through an X ray, inspected by a K-9 and officers.

Customs officials say fruit and vegetable shipments from Mexico peak in the winter, so drug smugglers may be more likely to try to move drug loads, hoping their illegal load will slip through with a surge of legitimate cargo.
