Sierra Vista police officer shoots man with machete

On Saturday, January 4, 2014, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Sierra Vista Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 hangup call in the 1200 block of Paseo San Luis in Sierra Vista.

Police officers advised that once they arrived on scene, they observed 49-year-old Michael Estrada coming out from some brush in front of the residence, who then brandished a machete while making aggressive movements towards the officers. Officers ordered the man to stop, and when he failed to do so while continuing towards the officers, he was shot.

Medical personnel transported Estrada to the Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Sierra Vista Police Department is conducting the investigation in cooperation with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

  1. One down millions to go. This might be the only way to put a halt to new democrat voting registrations. Please you bleeding hearts. Keep these people in Mexico or wherever they are coming from and you go down there and help to change their governments. What is so hard to
    understand about that?

  2. Too bad they didn’t have time or opportunity to use shotgun beanbags. A taser wouldn’t work because he could cut the wires with the machete.
