Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcons from New Jersey and South Dakota will operate here for intermittent periods in January and February as part of the Arizona Air National Guard’s Operation Snowbird.
Twelve F-16s from the South Dakota Air National Guard are scheduled to operate at Snowbird from January 11-25. Ten F-16s from the New Jersey Air National Guard are scheduled to operate at Snowbird from February 18 through March 8.
While winter weather is affecting much of the central and northern United States, these units will be able to complete mandatory readiness training in the optimal weather conditions and ample military training ranges of Southern Arizona.
Residents can expect to see and hear more F-16 traffic in and out of Davis-Monthan during these training dates.
During their visit, these pilots will adhere to all Davis-Monthan arrival and departure procedures and noise abatement procedures.
If residents have comments or concerns about Davis-Monthan flight operations, they can call the base’s flight operations hotline at (520) 228-5091.
