Several freeway-improvement projects in the Phoenix area will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends travelers allow extra time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:
Northbound Loop 101 closed overnight between Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (March 22) and from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 24) for lane striping and other work on the HOV-lane ramps project at the Maryland Avenue bridge in Glendale. Southbound Loop 101 closed between Glendale Avenue and Bethany Home Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (March 23).
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes. Freeway traffic will detour along 91st Avenue.
Grand Avenue (US 60) intersection with Northern Avenue closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 24) for paving.
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes to avoid delays. Southeast-bound Grand Avenue traffic can use southbound 75th Avenue to eastbound Bethany Home Road. Northwest-bound Grand Avenue traffic can use northbound 59th Avenue to westbound Peoria Avenue.
Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) on- and off-ramps at Mesa Drive closed from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (March 23) for resurfacing. Mesa Drive also narrowed between US 60 and Auto Center Drive.
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes to avoid delays. Eastbound US 60 ramps at Country Club Drive or Stapley Drive will be open.
Northbound Scottsdale Road left-turn lanes at Loop 101 in north Scottsdale partially closed from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (March 23) for pavement repairs. Left turns to the westbound Loop 101 on-ramp still allowed, but heavy traffic and delays are possible.
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound Bell Rd. to northbound 56th Street to access westbound Loop 101.
