Pima County burglary suspect captured on video, in person

BurglarOn April 1, 2014, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to the 4400 block of North Camino Gacela reference a report of a burglary in progress. While en route, deputies learned that the homeowner received a notification on his cell phone that the video surveillance in his home was activated.

The homeowner saw footage of a suspect entering his home and provided a description of the suspect.

When the deputies arrived, they blocked in the suspect’s vehicle which was parked along the street. One deputy spotted the suspect returning to his vehicle and they were in a brief foot chase before the deputy lost sight of him. Several units were called to the scene to assist deputies, including the Search and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, and the Department of Public Safety Ranger helicopter. An additional 9-1-1 call was received saying that a male matching the suspect’s description had come to another house near River Rd. and Swan Rd. and told the homeowner that the police were after him. The Sheriff’s Department Canine “Jack” was deployed in the area and apprehended the suspect hiding in some bushes.

Burglary charges are pending for the suspect, who has been identified as 31-year-old, Alan Thieme, Jr. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Burglary Unit has taken over the investigation.
