Food City shooting victim identified

The victim from the shooting incident that occurred on April 26, 2014, at 2000 East Irvington Road, has been identified as 36-year old Tomas E. Tovar.

On April 26, 2014, at approximately 9:56 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a shots fired call in
the parking lot of the Food City grocery store, located at 2000 East Irvington Road. Upon arrival officers located Mr. Tovar in the parking lot with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. He was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased on arrival.

Several people were in the parking lot when the shooting took place. A grey or silver Dodge Magnum was seen leaving the parking lot moments after the shooting. It is unknown if that vehicle is involved, but detectives are considering it as a vehicle of interest at this point. Detectives are still in the early stages of this investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
