On Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 a Pinal County Sheriff’s detective, assigned to the Persons Crimes Bureau, received a call from a citizen who reported Tyler Kost, age 18, from San Tan Valley and a student at Poston Butte High School, had sexually assaulted, sexually abused and molested five teenage girls in the San Tan Valley area.
Detectives immediately began to investigate and now have identified a total of 13 alleged victims. The victims are high school students and one victim is 13 years old.
One of the victims reported Kost threatened her, harassed her and told her to kill herself. She attempted to commit suicide and was hospitalized. While in the hospital she received a message from Kost, threatening that if she returned to school he would “make her life a living hell.” Due to the threats she was receiving, she never returned to school and moved out of state.
On Monday, April 28th, 2014 Tyler Kost was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail for two counts of Sexual Assault and two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor related to one of the cases as detectives were continuing their investigation on the other cases. The judge set his bond at $10,000 which was quickly posted and he was released from custody.
Detectives are continuing the investigation with the additional victims. Additional charges are pending.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Over 80% of female victims who are sexually assaulted or raped never report the crime to law enforcement. The young female victims in this case were threatened, harassed, stalked and then either forcibly sexually abused or sexually assaulted by Tyler Kost. This investigation is still in the early stages and 13 victims have been identified. We want to help every victim so if you have any information on these cases please report it to our detectives.”
