In April of 2014, the United Parcel Service (UPS) contacted the Target Distribution Center in Tucson, AZ. They advised that several of the shipments they had received from the Target Distribution Center, had been tampered with. Target investigators and UPS security personnel worked together and discovered that at least 11 IPADS, speakers, headphones, an IPOD and a camera, had been stolen from the shipping packages. Target advised the items added up to approximately $6500.
In May of 2014, investigators from Target contacted the Tucson Police Department’s Larceny Detail to ask for assistance. Target advised that they had located an individual in Tucson who was selling electronic items on-line. The items were similar to what had been stolen. The telephone number that was being used returned to an employee who worked at the Distribution Center. The Larceny Detail began monitoring the suspect’s activity with the assistance of the Tucson Police Department’s Property Trafficking Unit. On June 9, 2014, detectives followed the suspect as he left the Distribution Center. A traffic stop was conducted, and inside the vehicle detectives located 4 of the stolen IPADS and a stolen IPOD. The driver was identified as 25-year old Sonny Quezada. During an interview with detectives, Mr. Quezada admitted to stealing 14 IPADS from Target, as well as the other items mentioned.
Mr. Quezada was booked into Pima County Jail on 1-count of Trafficking in Stolen Property and 1- count of Trafficking
