Tucson man killed in east side collision

On February 17, 2015, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a Tucson Police Department officer, responded to the report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of South Kolb Road and East Broadway Boulevard. The officer located a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2009 Dodge Challenger that were involved in the collision.

The 85-year old male driver of the Camry was transported, via Southwest Ambulance, to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The 70-year old female passenger of the Camry and the 27-year old driver of the Challenger sustained no injuries and were not transported to a medical facility.

The officer at the scene determined that the Challenger was southbound on Kolb Road approaching Broadway Blvd. As he was travelling through the intersection the Camry turned in front of him, and they collided.

On February 20, 2015, the 85-year old male driver of the Camry, Ivan Leon Lovette, was pronounced deceased at St. Joseph’s Hospital due to injuries sustained from the collision. Next of kin have been notified.

  1. I guess this story leaves open the possible presumption that he had minor injuries and became worse at the hospital – which could mean the hospital is a more dangerous place than the intersection of Kolb and Broadway on a bad traffic day….
