Fake Bomb Forces Sierra Vista Goodwill Thrift Store Evacuation

The Goodwill Thrift Store and Donation Center, located at 2105 E. Fry Blvd., and the surrounding area was evacuated on Saturday afternoon after a suspicious device was discovered at the store.

According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, the device was found by store employees when they emptied a donation bin at about 1:20 p.m.

After looking at the device, officers decided to evacuate the Cochise Plaza Shopping Center while the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Pima County Sheriff’s Office bomb squads were contacted and responded for further investigation.

After employing the use of a K9 and robot, the bomb squads determined the suspicious device was a fake.
