Tempe To Host Miss Native American USA 2015 Pageant

Contestants in the annual Miss Native American USA 2015 Pageant compete at Tempe Center for the Arts on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 6:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at www.tempe.gov/tca or at the TCA box office at 480-350-2822. Seating is general admission; doors open to the public at 5:30 pm (MST).

According to organizers, the Miss Native American mission is to recognize and honor Native American women throughout the United States. MNAUSA helps promote, address, support, and collaborate in areas of continuing education, domestic violence, alcohol & drugs, suicide prevention, teenage pregnancy, youth violence, AIDS prevention, diabetes prevention and intervention in urban and Native American communities.

Nine talented women are vying for our 2015-2016 Miss Native American USA title:

* Daphne Coriz – Santo Domingo Pueblo – Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico
* Emilia Sloan – Navajo/Dine’ – Cane Valley, Arizona
* Kristina Hyatt – Eastern Band of Cherokee – Cherokee, North Carolina
* Aliyah Chavez – Santo Domingo Pueblo – Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico
* Kansas Begaye – Navajo/Dine’ – Waterflow, New Mexico
* Dominique Nosie-Romo – San Carlos Apache & Ak-Chin Indian Community – Peridot, AZ
* Raeanna Begay – Navajo/Dine’ – Sheep Springs, New Mexico
* Mariah Gachupin – Jamez Pueblo – Jamez Pueblo, New Mexico

  1. Congratulations to these nine young American ladies, and to the tribes and villages they represent. I’ll be watching ADI for a report on the pageant.
