The city of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its second public open house meeting to discuss the Phoenix Mountains Preserve Access and Adaptive Management Plan on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at Devonshire Senior Center, 2802 E. Devonshire Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m.
The access and management plan addresses the following trailheads: Phoenix Mountains Park and Recreation Area (Piestewa Peak) at 2701 E. Squaw Peak Dr., 32nd Street Trailhead at 32nd St. and Lincoln Dr., 40th Street Trailhead at 9200 N. 40th St., and Dreamy Draw Recreation Area at 2421 E. Northern Ave.
Meeting attendees will be able to view enlarged maps and aerial photos of those trailhead areas, and interact one-on-one with project team members.
This is the second of five scheduled public meetings, with the first one taking place on Thursday, Aug. 20 and gathering feedback from more than 80 participants. Future meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18; Wednesday, Jan. 20 and Thursday, Feb. 25. The January and February meetings were recently added to allow project team members a chance to share improvement concepts and provide additional public feedback opportunities.
The November and January meetings also will be held at Devonshire Senior Center from 6 to 8 p.m.
The February meeting will provide final trailhead improvement concepts and be part of that month’s Parks and Recreation Department Board Public Meeting at City Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson St., at 5 p.m.
Stakeholders also may provide feedback via an online survey through Wednesday, Nov. 18.
