Motorists traveling on Interstate 10 east of Tucson will encounter lane closures this week while the Arizona Department of Transportation prepares to begin work to improve segments of the highway in Pima and Cochise counties.
The following restrictions will be in effect in the coming days:
•On Tuesday (Sept. 29) eastbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane at Davidson Canyon, located about 20 miles east of downtown Tucson between mileposts 282 and 284
•On Wednesday (Sept. 30) I-10 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch exit (Exit 297) in western Cochise County
•On Thursday (Oct. 1) I-10 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the Marsh Station traffic interchange (Exit 291) in eastern Pima County
The restrictions each day will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the posted speed limit within the restricted area will be reduced to 55 mph.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
