On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, crews from Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will lower manhole covers and water valve covers on Camp Lowell Road between Swan Road and Columbus Boulevard in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. Work hours for the utility lowering will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this work at least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained.
On Sunday, December 13, 2015, crews will begin milling asphalt and removing the soil subgrade on Camp Lowell Drive. Once the new subgrade is constructed, crews will begin paving the roadway. The work on Camp Lowell Drive between Swan Road and Columbus Boulevard is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, December 24, 2015. Work hours will be 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with some day work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
During this work at least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained, with available access to all businesses and residences along Camp Lowell Drive.
Once the repaving work is complete, crews will raise the manhole and water valve covers level with the new asphalt surface. The utility adjustments are scheduled to take place from Tuesday, December 29, 2015 through Monday, January 4, 2016. This work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Please note that during the utility adjustments, travel lane restrictions will be in place for 24 hours to allow the concrete ring to properly cure.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling and walking in the work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in these work areas. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
