Phoenix Business Owner Pleads Guilty To Filing a False Tax Return

On November 22, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona, Gregory Gordon MacLeod pleaded guilty to one count of filing a false tax return.

In his plea agreement, MacLeod admitted that a Federal tax return was filed with the Internal Revenue Service, with his authorization, for tax year 2014. The tax return contained a written declaration that it was being signed subject to penalties of perjury. This form was signed with his electronic signature. His Form 1040 stated that his business, Advantage Electronics/Vision TC only generated gross receipts of $165,123 for 2014. MacLeod was aware that this statement was not true as he had generated over $573,756 in gross receipts for the year.

In addition to 2014, MacLeod admitted that he failed to report $618,534 amount in gross receipts on his Federal tax return for 2015. These statements resulted in a tax due and owing of $45,802 for tax year 2014 and $33,091 for tax year 2015.

Sentencing is currently set for February 17, 2022.
