Fallen Trees Stop Arizona Snowbowl Ski-lifts

Due to power outage caused by fallen trees, skiers at Arizona Snowbowl did not have ski-lift service on Sunday until 11:00 a.m.

Approximately 2,400 people were without power after trees downed power lines in Flagstaff, Payson, and Munds Park Saturday evening.

On Saturday, Arizona Snowbowl closed the Agassiz lift and Hart Prairie was on delayed opening because of high winds.

According to Arizona Public Service, reliability work on Mt. Elden concluded earlier this month as APS crews replaced 24 wooden poles with 19 steel poles, “to improve electric service for the Flagstaff area and secure the power supply to communications equipment vital for police, fire and rescue operations in Northern Arizona.”

Because Mt. Elden is steep and rocky, helicopters were used to move crews and equipment during the project.
