Surprise Police Seeking Person Of Interest In Attempted Child Abduction

On Sunday, November 29, 2015, at approximately 2 am the Surprise Police responded to a residence in the area of Bell Road and Cotton Lane in reference to a report of an sexual misconduct involving a minor and possible attempted child abduction.

According to the victim, an 11 year old girl, she was confronted by a male subject on a bicycle near the entrance to a “WinCo Foods” store located in the area of Bell Road and Loop 303 in Surprise. The incident reportedly occurred between 1 am and 2am on Sunday morning.

When she contacted the man, he made several “rude” comments which made her feel uncomfortable. She immediately left the store and began walking back home. As she passed through a greenbelt area, she described as a short-cut, the unknown subject followed behind her. As she passed through the greenbelt area, the man reproached her, exposed his genitals, and tried to grab the girl.

The victim said she turned away from him and ran home. After safely returning home, she told a family member and they contacted the police. The police responded to the scene where the incident was described to have occurred, but were unable to locate the man. The victim described the man as a white male possibly in his late twenties or early thirties, wearing a multi-colored long-sleeved shirt, a dark colored ball cap, brown shorts, and dark colored shoes.
