Good Samaritans In Rollover Crash Sought

On March 13, 2016, at approximately 5:11 p.m., a grey 1997 Mitsubishi Montero hatchback SUV occupied by two males was involved in a one vehicle roll-over, serious injury collision on the North Priest Drive to westbound SR-202 entrance ramp. Witnesses say the vehicle exited Priest to the SR-202 westbound roadway, flipping and rolling into a ravine, coming to rest on its roof.

The victims are 19 and 20 years-of-age and are both from Phoenix. Both of them were severely injured and are in critical condition. Arizona Department of Public Safety Detectives have not ruled out alcohol as a factor in this crash.

A number of people were on scene trying to render aid to the victims as troopers arrived. As Detectives investigate this crash they are trying to determine who was at the wheel at the time of the collision.

“Our troopers who had initially arrived on scene estimated there were 20 good samaritans trying to aide the victims. Most had left by the time our investigation had begun. It would be very helpful if anyone who was at the crash scene could call us and provide some basic information,” said Sgt. Daven Byrd, of the DPS Vehicle Crimes Unit.

Anyone with any information on this crash should call the DPS Duty Office at 602-223-2212.
