On April 27, 2016, at approximately 4:30 AM, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 17 travelling to Phoenix from a neighboring state. During the stop, a large amount of money was found along with methamphetamine, cocaine and related drug paraphernalia.
Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (P.A.N.T.) Detectives were called out to assist in the investigation and they learned the cash located was going to be used to purchase approximately 1.5 lbs. of methamphetamine from the metro Phoenix area, an estimated street value of $45,000 dollars.
Later in the evening, P.A.N.T. Detectives and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K9’s were able to locate 24 year-old Yesenia Mondragon of Phoenix as she traveled to Yavapai County in an attempt to deliver 1.5 lbs. of methamphetamine for sale.
She was taken into custody without incident and booked in at the Yavapai County Detention Center. She was charged with numerous offenses including Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Transportation of Dangerous Drugs for Sale. She remains in-custody on a $10,000 bond. Investigation is ongoing.
