On Monday May 2, 2016, 37-year-old Seth Ruhter of Dewey was arrested for charges including Trespassing, Attempted Burglary and Possession of a Dangerous Drug. He has since been released on $7500 bond.
On May 2, 2016, deputies were dispatched to the 10600 block of Rocky Hill Road, Dewey, regarding a suspicious person possibly trespassing. The female resident had just arrived home to see a man, whom she did not know, bent down by her front door tampering with the door knob. When noticed, the suspect left, entered a silver Chevrolet Tahoe, and drove away. The victim smartly did not enter her home as there could have been additional suspects inside. She remained with neighbors pending the arrival of the deputies who would check the home to make sure it was safe to enter.
Meanwhile, quickly arriving assisting deputies located the Tahoe and detained its driver, 37-year-old Seth Ruhter of Dewey. Ruhter was asked why he was on the victim’s front porch and he replied, “I don’t know, but I was not breaking in.” When Ruhter was searched, deputies recovered 3 small containers each containing methamphetamine.
Deputies believe Ruhter was attempting a burglary of the victim’s home. If anyone has further information on the suspect regarding this incident or similar activities, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1800-932-3232. Refer to case number 16-015773.
