Boyfriend Arrested In Stabbing Death Of Tucson Woman

On Monday, November 21, 2016, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a woman down on N. Flowing Wells Rd., just south of W. Roger Rd. Upon arrival, officers located 29-year-old Roxanne Ortiz on the ground with obvious stab wounds.

The officers immediately utilized their Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) and summoned paramedics. Members from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and took over treatment. Ms. Ortiz succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence. The detectives quickly learned Ms. Ortiz and a male she had an ongoing romantic relationship with, 25-year-old Chet Maley, drove to the convenience store in the morning. The two had a verbal argument that began in the parking lot and continued south on Flowing Wells Rd. by a nearby apartment complex. The argument turned physical and Ms. Ortiz was stabbed. Maley fled the area on foot and was not initially located.

Officers continued the search, and officers located the him at a residence in the area and detained him without incident. Maley was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
