On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, just before 8:30 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to the area of South Houghton Road and East Andrada Road for a report of a rollover collision. When deputies arrived, they discovered two male occupants had been ejected from a green passenger car.
Deputies immediately began life saving measures while they waited for emergency medical personnel. Once emergency medical personnel arrived, they transported the 25-year-old male driver to the hospital for serious injuries. Emergency medical personnel continued to work on a 16-year-old male passenger who had been ejected, but were unable to save his life and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
After interviewing witnesses, investigators were able to determine the green passenger car was the only vehicle involved in the accident. The vehicle was occupied by five males and was travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Houghton Road when it lost control and began rolling over. The vehicle rolled over multiple times before coming to rest in the desert area on the west side of Houghton Road. Investigators believe alcohol and speed were factors in the collision. This investigation is ongoing.
