Agents Find Gun, Marijuana at Immigration Checkpoint

CBP check point approximately 5miles west of 3 Points on Highway 86 between Tucson and Ajo.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Tucson Station arrested an adult USC male March 22 after finding more than 50 pounds of marijuana and a loaded small-caliber handgun in a pick-up truck.

The man was eastbound on Highway 86 when he stopped at the immigration checkpoint and was referred to secondary inspection due to a canine alert. Agents searched the vehicle and located two large bricks of marijuana concealed in the walls of the truck’s bed and a .380-caliber handgun in the cab.

The man is currently in custody, facing federal drug charges. Agents seized the vehicle, weapon and marijuana.
