Today at approximately 10:00 a.m., while conducting welfare checks of inmates, Pima County corrections officers discovered 24-year-old Branden Roth with obvious signs of trauma and called for medical assistance. Jail medical staff and Tucson Fire Department personnel came to Mr. Roth’s aid; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives arrested Mr. Roth’s cellmate, 23-year-old King Yates, for first degree murder.
