Deported Mexican Woman With Prior Sex Offender Conviction, Arrested Again

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents from the Ajo Station arrested a 43-year-old Mexican woman Wednesday afternoon near the Lukeville Port of Entry for illegally entering the United States.

During processing at the Ajo Station, agents learned the woman, identified as Esmeralda Mendez Madrigal, is a registered sex offender and was previously removed from the U.S. following a six-year sentence for aggravated kidnapping and unlawful restraint. She was convicted on felony charges in Cook County, Illinois.

Madrigal now faces felony immigration charges for re-entering the U.S.
