Landspout Tornado Spotted In Marana

A landspout tornado occurred at 6:55 p.m. on Friday, July 14 in Marana near Sanadrio and Barnett Roads, according to the National Weather Service.

A landspout tornado forms from the ground upwards and when it connects to the cloud it is considered a tornado. These are different from supercell tornadoes that are common in the midwest when the circulation drops from the cloud to the ground.

Landspout tornadoes are the most common type seen around Southeast Arizona.
