Defiant Melania heads to Texas in snakeskin pumps

Defying the fashion scolds who expressed horror at her footwear earlier in the week, Melania Trump chose a pair of snakeskin Manolo Blahnik pumps for her stroll to Air Force One Saturday as she headed once again toward the Hurricane Harvey disaster zone.

The First Lady accompanied her husband for a do-over visit in the aftermath of catastrophic storm – this time, with a focus on its victims and heroes.

The Trumps took harsh criticism Tuesday for not greeting displaced Texans during an initial trip to the disaster zone, when they met instead with state and local officials in Corpus Christi.

And the First Lady was savaged for leaving the White House in a slinky pair of black stiletto heels – even though she changed into more sensible white running shoes before her arrival in Texas.

Trump explained that he avoided Houston and its hard-hit surrounding areas earlier in the week to avoid taxing local resources needed for first responders and immediate aid, when flooding was still ongoing.

His wife did not defend her fashion decision Tuesday, but her office hit back.

“It’s sad that we have an active and ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are worried about her shoes,” her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said Tuesday.
