Late Saturday night, September 16, 2017, around 11:45 p.m., officers from Operations Division West and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a serious injury single vehicle collision on N. Oracle Rd. at E. Auto Mall Dr. Upon arrival, they located two adult males and one adult female inside the vehicle. The adult male driver and adult female front seat passenger were transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries. Sadly, the adult male rear seat passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. His identity is being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Traffic Investigations Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the driver of a silver 2005 Infiniti G35 was traveling southbound on Oracle Rd. at a high rate of speed in the median lane. As he was approaching E. Auto Mall Dr., he passed a vehicle in the median lane and then changed lanes into the median lane. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a metal utility pole on the southwest corner of N. Oracle Rd. and E. Auto Mall Dr. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available. If you have any information related to this incident you are asked to call 88-CRIME (you can remain anonymous).
