The Tucson Trap and Skeet Youth Shooting Program is requesting your help.  This year on “Giving Tuesday ” will you please donate to a Arizona Youth Shooting Club’s Midway USA Foundation Account.

The benefits may last forever

There are over 75 active youth shooting clubs in the state of Arizona with Midway USA Foundation accounts.

Our Midway USA  Foundation account allows us to draw out 5% per year, with these funds we support 32 Arizona Scholastic Clay Target Clubs around the state with  everything from shells and targets to Travel expenses for teams going to National Competitions.

I haven’t heard what the count is this year but most years there over 1,000 Arizona youth athletes competing in the shotgun sports, there is also Rifle, Pistol, Air Rifle and Archery.

These youth athletes must train just as in any other sport.  Most of them also have the same academic requirements to compete in their sport as any other athlete in any other sports.

Arizona has a long and rich history of competitive shooting; The Tucson Trap and Skeet Club was founded in 1948 and was located in the Pantano wash. The club has been in its present location since 1976. At the 2012 ISSF World Cup held in Tucson 6 World Records in the Olympic Shotgun shooting sports were set or equaled, many other national records have been set or equaled at TTSC in Sporting Clays, American Trap and Skeet.

The Tucson Rifle Club was first established in 1896! TRC has hosted the First National High-Power Rifle Silhouette Championship and the First Pistol Silhouette National Championship. TRC still hosts State, National and International Competitions.

Arizona has at least 2 World Champion Shotgun Shooters (Gebben Miles and Emily Blount). Many National Champions and Runners Up ( Gebben Miles, Emily Blount, Jill Hawes, Luis Gloria, Zack McBee, Joe Witty, Kyle Johnson and many more).

The Flowing Wells JRTOC has had several National Ranked Air Rifle competitors.

The U of A Sonoran Shotgun Team was the First in the PAC 12.

And this is just in Tucson, There are all kinds of shooting ranges and clubs throughout the state.

By supporting our youth shooting clubs, you are not only helping the youth of our state, but you are also helping to promote our state.  Arizona Shooting Ranges have become a “Destination” for competitors and spectators. The weather, the range and our communities are all a considering factor. But one thing is for certain, when competitors come to Arizona for a local, state, national or international competition, they know they are going up against some of the best shots in the world.

I am proud of our Arizona Youth Shotgun Competitors and you should be too!

Most of the youth shooting athletes go on to College and usually have a high-grade point average despite having to spend so much time training and competing. These youth athletes will succeed in whatever they decide to do with their life because of the skills that are learned by competing.ad

These young women and men will end up being some of the best citizens we could ever have, they know the value of hard work and dedication, but they also know of the peace that can be gained by helping others. Just last week 12 members of the U of A Shotgun Team helped at benefit competition for a Breast Cancer patient. 12 wonderful young men and women were at the range at 7:am on a Sunday. They worked all day without a complaint and they were even asking to do more.

Aren’t these the kind of youth we want to be our country’s future leaders, business owners and employees.

On Giving Tuesday PLEASE HELP SUPPORT OUR YOUTH by donating your tax-deductible dollars to your favorite youth shooting club’s Midway USA Foundation account.
