Franks Set To Resign, Rumors Of Inappropriate Relationship

Arizona Congressman Trent Franks is expected to announce his resignation today, due to alleged inappropriate behavior. Rumors of Franks’ inappropriate behavior have spread across Arizona for years.

According to sources, Franks made staffers uncomfortable with conversations about surrogacy due to the fact that he and his wife were reportedly having difficulty having a child.

Franks is currently serving in his eighth term. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee, in the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, and in the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, where he is the outgoing Chairman. Franks Co-Chairs the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Caucus as well as the Congressional Caucus on Adoption, the Congressional Foster Youth Caucus, and the International Religious Freedom Caucus.

Before he was elected to Congress, Trent served in the Arizona Legislature as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Child Protection and Family Preservation.

Franks is expected to issue a statement later today. House Speaker Paul Ryan requested Franks’ resignation.

In November, the Washington Times reported that Arizona Congressman, Raul Grijalva who is rumored to be frequently inebriated, “quietly arranged a “severance package” in 2015 for one of his top staffers who threatened a lawsuit claiming the Arizona Democrat was frequently drunk and created a hostile workplace environment.”

According to the Times, a deal was negotiated that included $48,395 in taxpayer money “to the female aide, who left her job after three months. She didn’t pursue the hostile workplace complaint further.”

Congressman Ruben Gallego has had a history of harassment. It is unknown if it will catch up with him and if he will be the next Arizona representative to resign.
