The Marana Police Department is investigating a series of Christmas decorations that have been stolen within the Town of Marana.
On December 9, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Marana Police Department officers were flagged down while on routine patrol in the Gladden Farms neighborhood. A citizen told the officer that inflatable Christmas decorations had just been stolen from their front yard, and provided officers with a possible suspect vehicle description.
Moments later, officers located a matching vehicle in the area of I-10/Tangerine Rd. Though the vehicle fled from officers at a high rate of speed, officers were able to locate the abandoned suspect vehicle in farm fields near Breakers Water Park after a short period of time. Marana Police Department officers set a perimeter, and a Marana Police Department police canine was utilized to assist patrol officers. Officers located the arrestee, Jordan Knuffke, age 28, hiding in the farm fields. Jordan was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on theft-related charges. Additional charges are pending.
Marana Police Department detectives assisted with this case. The citizen’s inflatable Christmas decorations were located in plain sight in the suspect vehicle. Additionally, Marana Police Department detectives served a search warrant on the vehicle. Stolen items from unrelated Marana Police Department and other local jurisdictions cases were located inside the vehicle. The majority of the recovered items have been returned to their owners.
Two inflatable Christmas decorations were located inside the vehicle that Marana Police Department detectives suspect are stolen as well. Two “Yoda” decorations are still looking for their rightful owners.
