Navajo Man Sentenced For Assault With Dangerous Weapon

On January 8, 2018, Sergio Charley, 37, of Tonalea, Ariz., and a member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by a term of 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

On April 12, 2016, Charley assaulted the victim with a knife, causing the victim to sustain serious bodily injury. The victim is also a member of the Navajo Nation and the assault occurred on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Navajo Nation Department of Law Enforcement.
