On Saturday, Phoenix Police officers were involved in two separate shootings.
According to Phoenix Police, on Saturday morning, officers responded to multiple calls regarding shots being fired in north-central Phoenix. About an hour later, officers spotted a vehicle matching a description from one reportedly involved in the shots-fired calls. The suspect was allegedly involved in an unsuccessful carjacking attempt near North 15th Avenue and West Thomas Road. The suspect is deceased.
The second officer-involved shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., near Central Avenue and Baseline Road. According to Phoenix Police, a man exchanged gunfire with officers after they arrived at a vehicle in a field near Southern and Centra. Officers found the man in the driver’s seat. After talking with the officers, the man showed a gun and started shooting at them.
According to Phoenix police officials, no officers were injured.
