On Monday, President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un at the US-North Korea summit, Kim Jong Un committed to the ‘complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.’
The document both leaders signed reads in part:
Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:
- The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
- The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
- Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
- The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

A historic moment. May @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and his team have the wisdom and foresight to handle the negotiations and conversations throughout this day. https://t.co/Kj3184Ml3c

The left wing press response to the #SingaporeSummit is disgraceful and comical. Their unmitigated and unrelenting hatred of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump is an embarrassment. If it were anyone else leading this summit, we would be talking about the Nobel Peace Prize.

I congratulate @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for leading the #SingaporeSummit in accordance with the principles of the United States. He and his team diligently worked for this historic moment and were skillful ambassadors for our nation. https://t.co/3RnefEZ2Yk

The irony of this “summit” is that we are closer to war with NK than before the summit. With out any clearly defined goal when NK “fails” at any nebulous thing or insults Trump the drumbeat from the White House for war will be stronger and aided by the likes of Cotton, Graham.

I am encouraged by the news of a successful #SingaporeSummit. @POTUS’ historic meeting moves us closer to the possibility of a denuclearized Korean Peninsula and an overall more peaceful world.
