In his endorsement of Dr. Kelli Ward, conservative Rep. Paul Gosar did not mince words about his colleague and Ward’s opponent Rep. Martha McSally. Gosar is the first member of Arizona’s Congressional delegation to endorse in the state’s upcoming U.S. Senate race.
“In my time working with Martha, I found her, though likable personally, to be very inconsistent politically. None of us can count on Martha keeping a campaign promise as she will fall for whatever the D.C. elite tells her to do at the time. I have seen that firsthand,” said Gosar in his endorsement of Ward.
Honored to receive the endorsement of @RepGosar – a conservative champion, a stalwart defender of our Constitution, and a true friend! I look forward to working closely with Paul and other members of the #FreedomCaucus in Congress once I’m elected to the US Senate. #AZSEN pic.twitter.com/6nSj07trDG

“The most important issue facing our country is our unsecured and open borders. Kelli knows how critical this is and she will not cave to the leftists in their demands for amnesty, open borders, and endless welfare entitlements. Her opponent, unfortunately, has failed to grasp how critical this is to Arizona and the country, and has many times supported blanket amnesty to criminals,” continued Gosar. “This disqualifies her as a credible candidate in this race.”
On Monday, McSally was quick to criticize Trump, so Gosar’s implication that she was a ‘Never Trumper’ had an impact on conservatives across the state. “Kelli has proven she votes the way she talks – like a true American who loves her country and supports her President.” said Gosar. “This election will determine if Arizona has a senator who supports the American people and President Trump or a ‘Never Trumper.’ This election is between someone committed in their heart to real American values and securing our border or someone who supports amnesty, criminals and border jumpers.”
Ward described herself as grateful for Gosar’s endorsement. “I am honored to receive Congressman Paul Gosar’s endorsement – he is a true fighter for conservative principles and all Arizonans. As we work to make America great again, I am confident Paul will be right there on the front lines and I look forward to joining him in that fight in Washington, D.C.”
McSally is perceived by many to be the chosen candidate for senators McCain and Flake. Both men are very unpopular with republican voters.
