The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that took the life of 21-year-old Reilly Thacker on Wednesday evening on Tucson’s East Side.
On October 17, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Tucson Police officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting inside an apartment located at 8601 East Old Spanish Trail. Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Thacker and his wife inside the apartment. She was administering first aid to him as he was lying on the floor.
Officers immediately took over medical treatment until Tucson Fire arrived. Tucson Fire personnel continued medical treatment, however; he was pronounced deceased shortly after their arrival.
Detectives spoke with Mr. Thacker’s wife and processed the scene for evidence. Although it is still early in the investigation, detectives were able to determine that Mr. Thacker and his wife were involved in a physical altercation inside of their apartment. During the altercation, Mr. Thacker’s wife picked up a handgun and shot him. It does not appear that anyone else was in the apartment during the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information about the incident as asked to call 88-CRIME.
