Tucson Woman Nabbed, For Dangerous Illegal Alien Smuggling Attempt

Agents used a CTDD to partially disable a vehicle that failed to yield for agents at the I-19 immigration checkpoint

A Tucson woman with 6 illegal aliens in her vehicle was nabbed this week after she attempted to evade Border Patrol agents agents near Amado.

Nogales Station Border Patrol agents arrested the 50-year-old Tucson woman and six illegal aliens Tuesday afternoon in an area commonly used by smugglers east of Interstate 19. Agents had attempted to conduct an immigration inspection on the woman driving a Ford Expedition, but she Tdid not yield and instead sped away.

Agents deployed a controlled tire deflation device on the roadway, partially disabling the vehicle and causing it to stop.

During a search of the vehicle, agents discovered five male Mexican nationals and one male Guatemalan national, ages 18 through 39, all illegally present in the U.S.

Agents arrested the woman, who has extensive criminal history for various felony convictions, for human smuggling. She will remain in custody pending a disposition in her case. Two of the aliens arrested have prior immigration violations and removals from the United States.
