Yuma Community Comes Together To Eradicate Hate Crime

Yuma residents came together this week to eradicate racial slurs a tagger left on a mural sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

According to Yuma Police, between “11-30-2018 at 10:00 pm and 12-1-2018 at 7:00 a.m., an unknown person(s) painted racially derogatory remarks in spray paint on a custom mural located at the Del Sol Market at 280 S. 4th Avenue.

The building was tagged with swastikas, the ‘n-word,’ and the word ‘Mexico’ crossed off.

The tagger’s caused about $1,500 in damages.

The Yuma Police Department is encouraging anyone with any information about this case to call the Yuma Police Department Special Operations Group at (928) 373-4675 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous. If your information leads to an arrest you may receive up to a $1,000 cash reward.
