PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning drivers to avoid inadvertently exposing too much information in their proud selfie moments.

In order to protect information from identity thieves, officials are warning teen drivers to reconsider “showing off their new learner’s permit or license while taking a selfie in front of an MVD office.”

“Taking a selfie while showing your learner’s permit or driver license is a fun and popular way for new drivers to celebrate this milestone, but people do need to be careful about personal information that may be seen on those selfies,” said a Motor Vehicle Division press release.

“Safe Selfie” areas have been established outside some of the largest and busiest MVD offices.
