Heavy rain and snow is expected across Arizona from Wednesday night through Friday afternoon, forcing the closure of government offices including 12 Motor Vehicle Division offices in northern and northeastern Arizona.
In anticipation of poor driving conditions due to the incoming snowstorm, the closure affects MVD offices in Chinle, Cottonwood, Flagstaff, Holbrook, Kingman, Page, Payson, Prescott, Show Low, Tuba City, Window Rock and Winslow.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a major winter storm will impact parts of Arizona beginning tonight and continuing through Friday afternoon. Heavy rain is expected in the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas, with heavy snow down to elevations as low as 2,000 feet in some areas.
Officials advise that when dealing with heavy snow during extreme winter storms, the safest option is always to wait out the storm before driving.
